Testify, brother.

Truckers (generally) don't care. I asked them.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:21 |

It's not their fault that their rigs are speed limited.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:22 |

Then why do they honk at me for flicking them off after they cut me off so that they can pass another truck?
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:23 |

Your point?
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:24 |

Because they think 4 wheelers are (generally) idiots.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:25 |

What's the longest you've ever been behind another truck over taking a truck? For me it was 15 minutes once. Ridiculous.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:25 |

Been a tough night on the roads, eh?
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:25 |

I hate (95% of) them.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:27 |

10 long minuets until the passing truck lost momentum and the other truck got ahead and I managed to get through while screaming at them.

Yeah me too....at one point I just laid on the horn for a solid minute I was like "MOVE BITCH!!"

Yeah, today was a really weird day among a weird week. It was another week where I had to turn to a radio station to make sure there wasn't a Godzilla sighting somewhere behind me that people were fleeing.
Today, a bro truck spent most of my commute accelerating hard and braking hard behind a car going the speed limit in the slow lane, despite having ample opportunity to pass, despite not needing to exit. People.

Me, when it started.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:34 |

They're just trying to make a living. They get paid by the mile and if one truck is limited to 67 while another is limited to 64 then it 100% makes since for them to pass since even a 2 MPH delta makes a difference over the course of a day. Especially since the government decided to implement some enormously BS hours of service rules. Its a shitty profession that is essential to our economy functioning, cut em some slack.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:34 |

This is why I need the horn from the Queen Mary 2 on my pickup. And any other car.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:36 |
|
Then they can fucking wait until the lanes are clear to make their damn pass.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:38 |

Everybody has to be somewhere on the playing field. When I used to drive over the road, I felt bad when I could not make a pass in time to not impede the 4 wheelers. But, the impatient assholes in the cars, who think they are the only people on the road, also forget about the assholes on 4 wheels who hold them up with no regard at all. Sorry, ADMY, I disagree with you.

seems unlikely on many of the 2 lane highways I drive on but you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I'm sure you'd be singing a different tune if you drove a truck for a week.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:40 |

I do my part to get out of their way as quickly as I can, and it's pretty hilly around here which compounds the passing time to great lengths.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 22:42 |

But I don't, and I won't.

Canada's hours of service are way better. You're allowed to drive 13 hours in a day which in my oppo-inion is enough. Usually after the 11th I am about ready to quit. As for the hours of service the US enacted the half hour break isn't so bad. I mean come on you're going to go 11 hours straight without stopping for a rest for even a few minutes in the first 8 hours? That's kinda dumb.
I totally sympathize with the guys running nights though, dictating you must have 2 shifts off between 1 and 5am really hinders them.
In my oppo-inion though the apathy of many truckers allowed this legislation to be passed. If more of them had said to their congress man "If you vote for this bill I won't vote for you" well, there is enough truckers to sway the congressman's mind in my opinion.

I hear ya.
But, when you measure your day in hundreds of miles...maybe my last minute pass before a big steep grade climb is less than relevant.

Interesting to hear about Canada's and I agree with you about the break.
However, this wasn't a law that passed through Congress. It was a regulation that was promulgated by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration. the FMCSA is an agency that is part of the executive branch and congress has limited ability to block it from making rules. This is how the current administration is currently accomplishing all of its legislative priorities - through regulation - in order to circumvent Congress.

Don't ever drive I5 up and down California. . . This shit happens all the damn time. ALL THE DAMN TIME! I get that they are just doing their job, but they don't need to cut me off to take 15 minutes to pass 3 or 4 trucks. Since I have a tiny car I end up getting bored and start playing a slalom game in between the lines of my lane. But it is more to just get my lights in their mirrors more often. . . I do love dropping into 3rd and flooring it past them when they finally get out of my way though.

Only 95%?

Section of the 401. theres an over pass for rail and a river IIRC after London westbound. From that to the service centre after Dutton. About 20 plus minutes. 104 and 106 with slow long hills and weak engines. Special olympics for 1st place that was. Then a retread blew. My little car at the time was not happy....

I always sing...
MOVE bitch! Get out da way!

Meanwhile in the truck:

If you drive on I-10 between Houston and San Antonio you constantly see trucks passing each other with probably a 2 mile per hour speed differential. I remember one time I was driving behind two truck where it took the passing one 5 minutes to clear the length of the one being passed and about 8 minutes total to complete the pass.

So annoying.

Amen. Also, maybe don't cut off vehicles that are already going faster than you are to do it. Not cool to make other folks slam on their brakes so you can save. . . I don't know what they think they're saving.
